Everton, Manchester United 'to subsidise Wayne Rooney's MLS move'

Wayne Rooney's DC United wages will reportedly be paid by three teams should he make the switch to the US.

Wayne Rooney's mooted move to DC United will reportedly be subsidised by current club Everton and his previous team Manchester United.

England's top goalscorer currently earns £15m per year, £10m of which is paid by the Red Devils, and is contracted to bring in the same figure next year.

According to The Sun, the MLS club are only willing to pay Rooney £3m, forcing Everton to cover the shortfall.

The striker's move to the US is expected to be officially announced on July 10 when the MLS mid-season transfer window opens.

Rooney signed a two-year contract when he rejoined boyhood club Everton last summer from United on a free transfer.
